Edward Perry Bass is a great financier, businessman and a film director. He was born on 10th September 1945 and was the second among the four brothers. He lives in Fort Worth in Texas. Making change in your life or business can feel really hard for many people.

The reasons can be many and complex. There will be different contributing factors for each person too, depending on their circumstances and situation.

But today, we are just going to focus on one really important factor that impacts on many people that want to make changes in life or their business.

And it is this:

We are all so permanently overscheduled that a lot of the time we are just peddling our day to day hamster wheels so damn hard that there is no time to do anything else.

And that is a huge problem if you want to change something in your life and/or business.

Here’s why:

Change only happens where there is time and space to do something different.

So, if you want to change something, the first step is to create time and space to work on the thing that you want to be different.

I know it can be hard if you feel you have umpteen things on your plate and it seems like you don’t have enough time to do it all.

But think about this:

If you don’t find a way to make some space you are saying “no” to change for the better and “yes” to the same old same old.

So, here is what I would like you to do:

Get out your diary. Yes, right now.

Put in your diary a minimum 30 minute time slot for this week. Protect that time slot like your life depends on it. Use that time to pick one thing you would like to change. And just get stuck in to working on the steps to make it happen.

Build up gradually to assigning a two hour time slot a week which you keep just for time and space to work on change, new stuff, ideas etc.

Now, here is the important thing. Doing this as a one off is going to change diddly squat.

The power in doing this is to do it regularly. And by that I mean every week.

So have a look at what is going on in your life and business right now and ask yourself this question:

What do I need to do to make sure I do this every week?

Because if you decide to find a way, you will.

Having time and space, on a regular basis, is the first step to creating change.

Find a way to make it part of your weekly routine.
